Gabi Insurance Review: The New Way to Shop for Car Insurance

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my full disclosure policy for more details.

One of the easiest ways to save money each year is to switch up your car insurance every renewal.

And while in the past, this would seem like such a tedious task. AI has made shopping for car insurance much simpler.

With new technology, new tools are being created to provide a hassle-free experience when shopping for car insurance. I will be providing you with a detailed review of Gabi, an online insurance broker.

A Full Gabi Insurance Review. Read about my personal experience with Gabi, my personal numbers, and the pros and cons to shopping with Gabi. Shop for car insurance online, its fast, its easy!

Before we get started, I wanted to get a little vulnerable for a minute and talk about my real numbers and budget when it comes to car insurance.

I have 3 vehicles: 8yr old Camry, 20 yr old (but with us for 2 years) Prism, and a 7yr old (but with us for 3 years) Sierra.

We were paying $106/month when we were with Geico previously. My policy was up for renewal and as always the rate goes up during this time. So this year, my rate was going to go up to $115/mo.

No one likes a rate increase, so it was time to start shopping around.

Before this year, I would go to several websites, input all my info multiple times and while I always saved myself money, it was time consuming to do so. Or I would call different companies, wait on hold for half an hour, and told to wait again for an email with my quote within 3 days. We all know how much more valuable time is right now. Not to mention all of the follow up calls, marketing emails, spam, ya-da ya-da.

One year, I used one of Dave Ramsey’s ELPs and he saved me some money. But the next year, he told me I had the lowest rate. This actually wasn’t true because I called around myself and got a lower rate without him.

You can always get a lower rate.

Fast-forward to this year.

I knew there was a site that compared all of the insurances in one place, you know like how Expedia does for flights and hotels. Insert Gabi.

What is Gabi? Its the New Way to Shop for Insurance

Founded in San Francisco, California (2016) Gabi is an online insurance broker that compares auto and home insurance rates across top providers and finds you the cheapest rate for your exact coverage.

The tool is free to use and can save you some serious moolah. Gabi can find savings for about two-thirds of their customers, so not everyone saves. On average, Gabi can save their customers $961 per year.

The process was actually super simple, you guys. I’ll be sharing my experience with you right now!

Keep reading to check out how it worked for me and how much I personally saved.

How Gabi Works

Step 1: Insert your current insurance credentials

First, input your current insurance login info so that your current policy will be transferred over. This is so they have the exact policy to compare. If you don’t feel comfortable with this, you can always upload your declarations page from your current insurer.

Step 2: Verify the info

Verify all the info is correct. Make sure you have the right drivers, right vehicles, mileage, ect. If I am not mistaken, you will add place of work here too in case you qualify for more discounts.

Step 3: Pick your quote

Watch the magic happen. You get to take a look at the quotes and change any part of your coverage that you like or don’t like. This usually takes less than 2 minutes. If you decided to upload the declarations page instead of using your login credentials, then it may take up to 1 business day.

Step 4: Add additional details

Once you pick your favorite quote, they will ask for your drivers license to verify your identity and any violations. This is why your initial quote may not be accurate.

The will check for any recent claims and driving violations. So if you do not disclose that information initially, your quote will end up higher when finalized.

You will see that my quote initially cost $72/mo. I forgot about a claim I had to replace my husband’s windshield.

Step 5: Create your account and make your payment

Then you’ll create an account with Gabi that is verified by text or email.

If everything is kosher, you’ll make your payment and will start to receive emails from the new insurance provider for further steps (such as creating an account, signing final paperwork, ect.) That’s it!!

It is important to know that your quote is based off of a [paid in full] method. Had I chosen to pay monthly, my payment would have been $86/mo. That quote was still much less than the $115/mo I was going to have if I stuck with Geico but to take advantage of more savings, paying in full was the obvious choice for me.

Gabi will also contact your old insurance company to cancel for you if you wish. Or you can copy the cancel template to send. I just went ahead and called on my own to cancel.

So by going through Gabi, my monthly payment for my new insurance policy for all 3 vehicles is now only $74/mo!! That’s a savings of $40/mo if I had done nothing.

Geico was actually really surprised that anyone offered something lower than $100/mo for my policy. They even said, “if it turns out too good to be true, we are more than happy to take you back.”

So, I hope this is a no-brainer for you mama.

Loyalty to insurance companies pay nothing anymore. Everyone is competing for your business, that is how the rates get to decrease.

Are you ready to start saving with Gabi yet? If not, keep reading, mama.

Pros and Cons of Gabi

An image of the Pros and Cons of Gabi insurance review.

What Makes Gabi Different Than Other Online Insurance Brokers?

First, Gabi treats their customers like people. You are assigned a real broker to help you with anything you need during the process. You can communicate with them via talk or text. I had an issue with my credit card not going through and I received a text right away.

Second, Gabi doesn’t sell your data to anyone. So you can forget about spam calls and emails.

What Kind of Insurance Does Gabi Provide?

Gabi offers more than just car insurance. They can provide quotes for car, home, renters, condo, landlord, umbrella, and even motorcycle and RV.

They will search for bundles as well.

So, Is Gabi Worth It?

Based on my personal experience, I would have to say yes a thousand times. I saved a bunch of money, it was done very quickly, and painlessly. I will be utilizing Gabi from here on out as long as I continue to get lower rates from reputable sources.

If you want to start saving money, then your wallet will thank you for trying out Gabi! Go on, give it a whirl!

*BTW I only recommend the services that I use, love, or trust. I’m not going to hide that I get a commission if you use Gabi too. But this tool worked so well for me that I would be doing you a disservice if I kept it to myself.*

I want you to succeed, I want you to become debt-free, to save and to begin to build wealth for you and your family!

Now go save some money!
