Hey girl, hey!
Thanks for Visiting and Welcome to Simple Money Mom!
Are you a mom who is tired, overwhelmed, and just can’t seem to get it together?
Have you incured large amounts of debt because it’s the norm or because it’s “easier” and convenient?
Do you avoid your finances because you are afraid of knowing the truth? Or because you think that you are so far behind that it’s impossible to get ahead?
Are you struggling to make your budget work?
Motherhood is so freaken hard. There is so much pressure put on mothers these days, as if we are expected to do it all. The housework, the yardwork, the sports, the teaching, the cooking, the cleaning, the planning, and the finances. It’s exhausting, amiright?
I hear you, mama!

Hi! I’m Marissa. A regular working mom of 3 boys and a wife to an amazing husband.
I was there and I still have those moments. Because, well, I am human.
After graduating college, I moved out with my now husband. Shortly after, I found out I was pregnant. I had spent 4 years working hard on my degree, I deserved shiny new things right? Millenial mindset. So I put everything on credit. [insert face palm emoji]
There I was, consumed by debt. Student loans, credit cards, and a brand new car. I was slowly digging myself a hole and I didn’t even know it.
Fast-forward to my second-born.
Going from one to two children was a HUGE change for me. I not only struggled as a mother, I struggled as a wife, as a homemaker, as an employee, and I was having a very difficult time managing my finances.
It wasn’t until I didn’t have money for groceries one week that it really hit me! Here I was, making $50,000 a year, and somehow I couldn’t afford groceries to feed my family!
I knew that I needed to change my entire mindset about money.
In 2015, I decided that I was going to become debt free and I was going to live a life of financial freedom.
I was able to pay off over $26K in 2 years during 3-months of unpaid maternity leave with just my income.
I have been able to squirrel away multiple savings accounts and 3-6 months of expenses for small, medium, and large emergencies.
I have also accumulated a net worth of nearly $100K in under 3 years after starting in the negative.
You see? I’m not rich. But I am wealthy. I have a loving family, a safety net, and I don’t have to worry about finances.
This can be you and more, if that’s what you want!
